Ken Boynton
Mind the gap.
The meaning gap.
That’s what learned from Ken Boynton during in our recent catch up over coffee in Seattle’s Queen Anne neighborhood. Ken was referring to the gap between what you want to say and what audiences truly cares about.
Ken is the founder of Message Glue, his successful creative consultancy that finds, creates, curates, and crafts stories, scripts, and presentations that connect brands to their audiences. With skills honed from a life spent as a stand-up comedian, voice actor, creative director, musician, and empathetic human, Ken is an expert at minding the meaning gap and helping senior leaders—and the brands they represent—turn their messages into relevant and memorable content.
I hadn’t seen Ken in over a decade, but he’s one of those characters who is always approachable and eager to work on something together. We talked about dogs, song parodies, his time in the Valley, his spot-on Tom Petty impression, and a project I was working on (where I got a free trial-size of Message Glue magic). Ken sits back and listens to what you have to say, empathizes with how the audience will receive it, and employs his time-honed skills to add a memorable twist that creates an emotional connection. It sounds simple enough, but it’s truly a gift.
We met for a quick cup of coffee. But the impact will stay with me for a while. Thank you Ken for taking the time and sharing your messaging magic.
