Tom Pigott

Friendly, courteous, kind.

Those attributes are not necessarily the first things you think of when describing senior business leaders or C-level executives. But they are qualities embodied in the Scout Law and by Tom Pigott, a lifelong Scout and current CEO, who I had the pleasure of catching up with recently on the Reconnect Roadshow.

Tom and I met nearly 20 years ago while fundraising for the Chief Seattle Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Tom was regular at the annual fundraising breakfasts in downtown Seattle, raising a paddle to support the Scouts and offering a word of thanks for our marketing agency's pro-bono efforts to raise awareness and share the story of Scouting’s positive impact for so many young people.

Tom is a member of one of the Seattle’s areas most prominent families, but he has always charted his own course as a successful entrepreneur bringing value to the world in new ways. Tom is currently CEO at Ludo, an all-in-one generative AI platform for game developers, designers, and artists.

I had not seen Tom in 10+ years, but it was great to catch up over coffee and hear what he’s learning on the forefront gaming and AI. A few quick nuggets:

1)    The AI horse is out of the barn. AI is now foundational technology for how people and companies do business. Figuring out how and where to best use it (particularly generative AI), based on your company and your customers, is imperative. The capabilities of AI are substantial today and those who are incorporating it are gaining advantage and best positioned to adapt to AI’s evolution in the next decade.
2)    Smart partnerships accelerate growth. Ludu’s partnership with gaming industry experts has helped the company make smart moves quickly, connect with the right people, and attract customers across the globe. For startups, partnering with industry experts is a critical strategy for minimizing costs and accelerating awareness and growth.
3)    Gamers are lifers. Many of the top innovators in the gaming industry have been there for decades; developing games, starting studios, and often being part of an M&A transaction only to plow the money back into new game development or angel investing. It’s a unique industry with many passionate, creative people who have a wealth of knowledge and decades of experience to share.

Tom, is was so great to see you and catch up. It’s always been inspiring to see what you’re building, how you lead, and where you're headed next. Best to you!
