Tenny Priebe
Joy is an emotion the world needs more of. So whenever I meet someone who naturally exudes it, I always look forward to reconnecting. Tenny Priebe is one such person. Tenny is an old family friend (a school buddy of my kid sister) who has gone on to become a creative colleague and inspiring collaborator. With a background in documentary film and video marketing, we first worked together when she brought in The Garrigan Lyman Group to do several brand videos for SaltWorks®, Inc.. After Saltworks, Tenny produced several videos for our clients at Microsoft and she is now Executive Producer at VMG Studios.
Tenny brings great energy, positivity, and empathy to every conversation. Perhaps some of it comes from also being a single mom raising two kids. It’s amazing what she does, all she handles, and the joy she brings to every conversation.
Reconnecting with Tenny at the University Village Starbucks reminded me again of a few Tenny life lessons.
1) In the hustle of a busy life and career, it’s easy to get distracted by all the things that can pull at your attention or be done better. Focus on what you are best at and love to do. You can’t do everything or fix everything. Trust others to do their jobs and do yours well. When that occurs, magic happens.
2) Creative direction is more than just having senior-level skills and good instincts - it’s people management, decision-making, coaching, and inspiring people everyday who are doing the work. CD’s are leaders.
3) Working moms are amazing. And overworked. And underpaid. As colleagues and companies, we can’t do enough to support them and acknowledge their huge value.
If there’s ever a chance to work with Tenny again, I’m in. She’s such a talent and a joy to be around. Thanks for being part of the reconnect roadshow, Tenny!
